Rockit musicians performed their winter session show, “RETRO REWIND: The Soundtrack of Two Generations, ’60s Meets ’90s”, at the newly reopened House of Independents in Asbury Park on Sunday, March 23rd, 2025.
The show blended the soundtracks from students’ parents’ and grandparents’ high school days! Students performed 1960’s classics like “Chain of Fools,” “Helter Skelter,” and “Tell Mama.” Mid show, 15 students had a brilliant stage change transitioning the show from ’60s to ’90s in less than 60 seconds, never missing one beat of the drum as the song changed from The Who’s “My Generation” to “Roll with It” by Oasis as psychedelic colors were replaced by black leather and combat boots. Parents sang along to 90s classics like “Don’t Speak” by No Doubt, “Buddy Holly” by Weezer, and “Higher” by Creed. Academy students in the wings and parents in the balcony couldn’t resist jumping up and down to Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.
The show’s upcoming encore performance will be at Tim McLoone’s Supper Club on April 13th.
