On Sunday, May 5th, 2024 Rockit Academy’s Eddie Brigati Honors Scholarship Band, GROOVIN’, had the privilege to open for Vanilla Fudge with Eddie Brigati and his wife, Susan Brigati, to a sold out crowd at The Cutting Room in NYC. Drum legend Liberty DeVitto introduced the band to the packed audience. Vanilla Fudge drummer, Carmine Appice, sits on the Rockit Live Foundation Artist Advisory Board and was kind to offer words of wisdom to the young musicians and give them the added thrill of playing on his drum set! The Rockit Academy honors students received praise and words of wisdom from Mark Stein, Vince Martell, John Cowsill, Bill Mendola, Vicki Peterson, Maureen Van Zandt and so many more stunned audience members who could not believe how incredible the band sounded. Eddie Brigati reminded the crowd, “These are not children, they’re spirits … They are the future of music.”
