Board of Directors

Rockit Live Foundation Board of Directors are made up of volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to support the mission of the foundation, which is to help develop, nurture, and inspire young musicians to reach their full artistic potential through live music education, building character as well as talent, instilling confidence and team skills with an emphasis on community service.

Founder and Executive Director
Bruce Gallipani

Bruce’s formal drum training began at age six and in just a few years he was performing with The Purple
Reflections, his first school band where his dad would sometimes accompany with his accordion. From 1974 to 1976, he studied classical drumming, percussion, and xylophone at The High School of Performing Arts in New York City. Co-founding the band, Xdavis, Bruce toured the Northeast from 1978 to 1988 supporting Culture Club, Stray Cats, Blue Oyster Cult, and Squeeze. Mick Ronson, of David Bowie’s “Fame,” produced tracks that were featured on the first of Xdavis’s two album releases. In addition to Xdavis, throughout the 1990s, Bruce guest-performed with various groups including, The Mamas and The Papas, and appeared as a drum instructor on the weekly cable program, “Ten To Rock.”

Beginning in 2001, Bruce worked with young aspiring musicians on a volunteer basis at St. Mary’s School in Middletown, New Jersey. This sparked Bruce’s goal to give kids a sense of sharing music experiences together in a band and encouraging them to learn and have fun together. The Rockit Live Foundation was inspired by Little Steven’s Underground Garage radio show and the concept that music can provide positive reinforcement and well-being for today’s youth. Bruce felt a desire to follow in his mother’s footsteps after her passing to volunteer and give back as she did in their Brooklyn Parish.

Since 2004, The Rockit Live Foundation and Rockit Academy, through partnerships and collaborations with venues, teachers, and guest musicians, has enriched the lives of students aged 8-20 through immersive group instruction and introduction to real-world concert production. “I wanted to take rock-n-roll out of the basement and prove that it offers the same positive reinforcements of social development and accomplishment as classical music, dance, or drama for kids right here in New Jersey.”
